Demolition begins on the old Backus Car dealership building in Savannah,Ga. The Car dealership was located there for 54 years, then closed its doors in 2009. The building has sat vacant since. Rumors started circulating that Whole Foods Market was making plans to bring a store to the Savannah,Ga area. Back at the beginning of May it was indeed confirmed that "Whole Foods" would be building a store here in Savannah. The initial plans from Whole Foods was  to complete construction by October of 2014, but within the last week WFM stated that they hope to complete construction by October of 2013,an entire year ahead of schedule. Demolition started just yesterday(July 20th).

These are some of the first pictures of the Demolition available anywhere. October 15th 2013 is the Planned Grand Opening date of Whole Foods, which will be 35,000 square feet. The entire shopping center will be about 65,000 square feet. PetSmart will also be located in the shopping center. An additional  15,200 square feet will be dedicated to other retail stores. Other announcements on other retail stores coming will be announced in August.

Other alterations to Victory  Drive and  streets surrounding the property will begin next month. A traffic light will be added at the intersection, with some modifications to all streets surrounding the property.          More updates coming soon.
